Fashion Don'ts That Are Total Dos

Even the best, most precise fashion muses occasionally make the worst dressed or fashion don't list. Whether it was a stylist oversight or a wrong projection on the next, most covetable fashion, you can't be progressive without a misstep every now and then.

Then there is us ... the real people of the world, who probably to most fashion editors are more don'ts than dos. Instead of resisting the title, I am embracing it and showing those editors that we know what we are doing. We just like to be a rebel without a cause, purposefully breaking well known rules just because we can.

My frequent fashion don't: Carrying an enormously large purse. According to Stacy and Clinton from What Not To Wear, women should carry purses that match their frame. Considering I have a smaller frame and am a boringly average height, I should carry an average, medium to small purse. But can even a medium purse carry my camera, battery pack, HUGE Hobo clutch, water bottle, notebook, 15 very essential lip glosses, etc., etc.?

My other no, no: Wearing PJ or yoga pants out in public. Sometimes the comfy stretch cotton and nagging urge to be lazy outweighs perfectly presenting myself.

Please, will you openly embrace your mistakes with me, proclaiming to the world that you do know better, but you just don't care? What is your fashion don't that you SO love to do?

These are cute enough to wear in public ... aren't they?

  1. Some old school fashion don'ts that are totally do's now: wearing silver and gold together and wearing black and brown or black and navy together. Don't cling to the past, ladies!

  3. those pants scare me a little! But I'd have to see them on the brave soul before I could officially cast judgement.

My biggest fashion "don't" is pajama pants. Sometimes I put them on as soon as I get home from work and then don't bother to change them for a quick run to the grocery store or errand. Red flannel with giant polar bears is so sexy, right??

  4. I probably have so many fashion "don'ts" that I'm not even aware of! I seriously learn something new every time I watch What Not to Wear! I tell Pat he should nominate me...but he kindly responds "I don't think you are bad enough!" I take that as I'm close just not all the way there!

One "don't" that I recently found out about was from Stacy and Clinton. A girl was shopping on the show and walked out of the dressing room. I immediately thought to myself "Aw now she looks pretty good." They then showed Stacy watching the footage and she went off about girls wearing "t-shirts" with dress pants! First of all, a t-shirt to me is what I sleep in not a $30 soft shirt that I bought at Gap! Love your blog! This is the only one I have been able to comment on b/c I'm not exactly what you call "fashion-forward!"

  6. Heard on GMA today that we aren't supposed to wear flip flops other than to the beach. I am definitely breaking that one.
